Cranial Osteopathy for Babies and Children
Birth can be a challenging process for every baby. The bones of the skull are mobile and designed to overlap as the baby moves slowly down the birth canal, naturally unfolding once he or she is born. This process is called unmoulding.
Not every birth is straightforward – a longer or swifter labour; the use of forceps or ventouse may hinder this unmoulding process. This can create tension in the head, neck and spine and may result in the baby being unsettled. Cranial osteopathy can help.
After taking a case history which would include full pregnancy and birth details we will perform an examination. Treatment is then carried out to gently release any unnatural tension in the new-born by applying stress resolution to the head, spine, pelvis or limbs allowing the body to release and relax from strain patterns.
