Osteopathy for Elderly People

Osteopathy for Elderly People

As we age we develop many aches and pains. Our joints become stiffer, have less range of movement. We tend to move more slowly especially in the mornings.

The reason for this is that as we grow older our joints, ligaments and muscles become less elastic causing a generalised ache and rigidity, especially in the lower back.

Although a good diet and exercise are important, regular osteopathic treatments may:

  • Increase mobility of the joints
  • Relieve muscle tension
  • Improve the blood supply to tissues
  • Help the body be more supple.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recommends osteopathy as an effective treatment for persistent lower back pain.
